Founded in 1963 by Haji Rafique Ahmed, the eldest brother of Haji Nisar Ahmed, Hamza Sugar Mills Limited began its journey after the acquisition of Hieson Sugar Mills, which was later renamed as Hamza Sugar Mills. Over the decades, the company has grown into one of Pakistan’s largest sugar manufacturing companies and is recognized among the largest sugar mills in Asia. Located in Jetha Bhutta, Khanpur, Hamza Sugar Mills has become a symbol of industrial excellence, innovation, and large-scale manufacturing within Pakistan’s sugar sector. The mill currently operates with a crushing capacity of 6,000 tons of sugarcane per day, equivalent to approximately 180,000 tons per month, making it one of the country’s most significant contributors to the sugar industry.
In addition to sugar production, the company operates a 60 MW bagasse-based cogeneration power plant, which not only fulfills the mill’s internal energy requirements but also contributes surplus electricity to Pakistan’s national grid. This reflects the company’s commitment toward sustainability, energy efficiency, and industrial modernization.
Under the umbrella of the Nisar Group of Industries, Hamza Sugar Mills continues to expand its industrial footprint. The company is now diversifying into Pakistan’s steel industry through the establishment of a steel re-rolling facility, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening its industrial presence and supporting the country’s infrastructure and economic development.
The legacy of Hamza Sugar Mills is closely connected with the vision of Haji Nisar Ahmed (Late), one of Pakistan’s most respected industrialists and philanthropists, who later chaired the company and contributed significantly to its growth and expansion.
